Rent a MG TF

MG TF - 1954, the final chapter of a legend
The MG TF, launched in 1953, marked the latest evolution in the MG T-Series roadster line, which began in the 1930s. This emblematic model, although conceived as a transition to the revolutionary MG A, remains today a true icon of classic British roadsters.
A necessary evolution
The MG TF, introduced in 1953, marked the culmination of the celebrated MG T-Series, embodying the spirit of pre-war British roadsters while bridging towards a more modern era. Intended as a transitional model before the launch of the groundbreaking MG A, the TF subtly modernized its predecessor, the MG TD, instead of presenting a wholly new design.
Key innovations included a sleeker, more aerodynamic profile, integrated headlights in the front wings, a recontoured hood, and a lower, backward-sloping grille—all contributing to a more fluid aesthetic. The cabin received an upgrade in refinement and comfort. Mechanically, it debuted with a 1250cc XPAG engine delivering 57 hp and was soon enhanced in 1954 with a 1500cc version pushing output to 63 hp and speeds nearing 135 km/h.
Despite these upgrades, the TF faced stiff competition from more progressive designs like the Triumph TR2. Production ceased in 1955 after 9,600 units, making way for the revolutionary MG A. Yet the MG TF remains cherished by collectors for its quintessential British charm, handcrafted elegance, and pure driving experience. It stands as a nostalgic emblem of a bygone motoring era, where style and simplicity reigned supreme.
